About the Australian Curriculum:
The Australian Curriculum has been designed to teach students what it takes to be confident and creative individuals and become active and informed citizens. There are set outcomes or ‘goals’ for what students should learn as they make their way through their school life. From the first year of schooling to Year 10, students develop knowledge and skills in eight learning areas (nine if you’re are in a religious school):
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Health and Physical Education (HPE)/Personal Development, Health & Physical Education (PDHPE)
- Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)/Human Society & Its Environment (HSIE)
- The Arts/Creative Arts
- Technologies
- Languages
Every student is unique, with different needs and interests. It is important that teachers use the Australian Curriculum to plan in ways that respond to those needs and interests. The teacher-authors listed in the blog show you how to personalise student learning. So stop re-inventing the wheel and stressing yourself out about how best to provide for your students. Follow these Australian teacher-authors (including yours truly) and utilise their resources and advice.
